After the worst ever flood at River Ravi for 38 years, the Pakistan Kissan Rabita Committee (PKRC, a peasant coordination) calls on friends, allies, and progressive forces everywhere to urgently support flood relief for peasants, small food producers, and rural workers devastated by the 2025 floods.

Since late June, torrential monsoon rains, cloudbursts, and glacial outbursts have caused widespread destruction across Pakistan. More than 800 lives have been lost, hundreds remain missing, and thousands of homes, roads, schools, and bridges lie in ruins. Farmers have lost their crops, seed stocks, and animals, threatening both immediate survival and future harvests. The poorest bear the heaviest burden of this crisis.
Gilgit-Baltistan:
In Gilgit-Baltistan, the floods have taken a particularly severe toll. In Ghizer district, a glacial lake burst destroyed over 330 houses and submerged farmland under a newly formed artificial lake stretching seven kilometers. In Baltistan, repeated floods since July have wiped out entire villages, destroying irrigation channels and terraces that sustain fragile mountain agriculture. Families are left displaced, forced to abandon their homes and livelihoods. This devastation comes on top of decades of neglect, with no effective flood protections, early warning systems, or rehabilitation mechanisms in place.
A Disaster of Injustice
These floods are not natural accidents. Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet its people are on the frontlines of climate collapse. The scale of loss in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, and Sindh reflects decades of state neglect and corporate-driven policies that prioritize mega-canals, export crops, and corporate farming schemes under projects like the Green Pakistan Initiative, while leaving rural communities unprotected and voiceless.
Rich countries have not fulfilled their promises made after 2022 floods, We are looking at you, please make a donation what ever you can, it makes the difference.
We have already set up medical camps but not more immediate relief needed in different parts of Pakistan.
Our Call
PKRC urges our allies to stand in solidarity with the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and rural Pakistan. Relief is desperately needed, but justice requires more: land reform, peasant rights, and a break with fossil fuel–driven, corporate-controlled development models.
Support Flood Relief Today
We appeal to you to contribute generously to PKRC’s relief campaign. Every contribution will go directly to peasants, small farmers, and rural workers whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered.
