Lyes sentenced to six months in prison in Algeria

2 days 12 hours ago

“Algeria is experiencing a situation where the regime has entered, since the Hirak, a repressive and authoritarian spiral that is intended to be “transitional”, hence the “suspension” of the parties that are considered as trouble-makers (notably the PST) and not the banning of them. But the regime does not emerge from its internal contractions: each negation opens onto another negation. It reacts with intermittent repression, like a sword of Damocles.”

A Bitter Account, Two Years into the Catastrophe

3 days 14 hours ago

Despite Israel's strenuous attempts to commemorate the tragic events of 7 October 2023, and the overwhelming Western sympathy it received in the wake of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, what dominates the global conscience today – two years after the operation – is primarily the far greater tragedy that the Zionist state has since inflicted on the people of Gaza and Palestine.

China and the IMF, supported by BRICS+, provided a lifeline to Javier Milei's far-right government in Argentina

4 days 6 hours ago

In September 2025, after having presided over the country since December 2023, the neo-fascist Javier Milei suffered an electoral defeat in an important vote. The result was the election in the province of Buenos Aires. This election renewed 46 seats in the provincial Chamber of Deputies and 23 in the provincial Senate. The Peronist opposition beat Milei's party by 13 points and holds a majority in the Buenos Aires Provincial Senate. The capital province represents about 37-38% of the national electorate. The provincial elections in Buenos Aires always serve as a major test at the national level, including for Javier Milei this year.

The BRICS and de-dollarisation

4 days 6 hours ago

Many perceive the BRICS countries as a counterweight to the dollar-dominated monetary order. However, the facts speak for themselves: at the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro (6–7 July 2025), no real desire to break away from the US currency was expressed. De-dollarisation remains a distant prospect.

Books about historical topics can sometimes be a bit difficult. Often, the list of names, facts, anecdotes, and dates is so long that the reader risks getting lost. Moreover, the reasons behind events are not always very clear, nor always explained in a way that is easy to understand.

A New Step in the Radicalisation of the Far Right in the Netherlands

“What was new was that on 20 September violent far-right activists—fascists, that is—not only reacted but chose the moment themselves and did so under their own flag. This marks the increased self-confidence of these people.”
