A month of elections gives this issue its spine, with the far right as the measure of every result.

Today, Spanish politics is inevitably moving towards another moment and the vote in Congress is a step in that transition.”

Pedro Sánchez has announced that he is bringing forward the date of the elections, which will now take place on 29 November. This call for elections comes against a backdrop of major protests over the housing crisis, which have sparked a significant resurgence of mobilisation amongst the left and the working class in the face of a structural problem that is becoming increasingly urgent.

The notion of the Left contains a dual dimension. For more than a century, both its opponents and its supporters have agreed in describing the Left as the “party of movement,” the natural gathering place of “all progressive forces” and all advocates of “change.”

The attempt to ostracise the AfD has failed.

Donald Trump arguably won the 2024 presidential election because between 42 and 48 percent of the country's Latinos voted for him. His was the largest Republican share ever of the Latino vote. In the last two years, however, Latinos have turned against Trump, as seen both in their participation in social protests and in pre-election polls. Latinos could cost Trump and the Republicans the election.

“AI, Anti-Capitalist Intelligence”, the third edition of Italy's Ecosocialist Summer University – organized by Sinistra Anticapitalista and the Livio Maitan Library – ended on Sunday 6 September 2026 with a well-attended debate on the alternative to capitalist barbarism, moderated by Armando Morgia, in which Antonella Bundu (Toscana Rossa), Dario Salvetti (formerly of GKN), Eliana Como (CGIL oppositionist), Luca Scacchi (AMR Controvento), Giulio Calella (Edizioni Alegre) and Francesco Locantore (Gauche anticapitaliste) participated, among others.

Gippo Mukendi Ngandu, a member of the leadership of the Fourth International, spoke at the anti-imperialist conference NoToNATO to present the links between war and the climate crisis, and to propose the answers put forward in our Manifesto for an Ecosocialist Revolution.

An international anti-imperialist peace conference took place on 4 July 2026 in Istanbul, Türkiye, while the entire country was under relentless repression by the regime in the run-up to the NATO summit. It allowed several thousand activists to meet.

The policies pursued since 2022 have been among the most reactionary, racist, and repressive in modern Swedish history. Examples include restrictions on the right to asylum, attempts to retroactively revoke residence permits, significantly stricter requirements for obtaining Swedish citizenship, stop-and-search zones in working-class suburbs, repressive legislation that allows 14-year-olds to be imprisoned, deportations of young people separated from their families, legislative changes that threaten democracy, and welfare reforms that severely worsen conditions for the poorest and for those without citizenship.

Secondary school pupils are taking action; the government is cracking down. The situation in the national education system has been deteriorating for years. Successive governments and various ministers, led by Blanquer [Minister of Education 2017-2022], have accelerated the destruction. The lack of resources is becoming increasingly unbearable.

The Partido Socialismo e Liberdade (PSOL) and the anti-capitalist left have two gigantic challenges to face simultaneously in the coming Brazilian elections: to contribute to the broader struggle against the main Brazilian expression of global neo-fascism, and to build a radical and independent left pole.

On Wednesday, 23 September, the police evicted Maricarmen in Madrid. Maricarmen is an 87-year-old woman whose rent was gradually increased by a vulture fund, until the fund decided it wanted the flat for new business ventures. In that sense, her case is not so unusual: in Spain, there are thousands of evictions every year. The housing movement fights against them every day, often in the face of a media blackout that looks the other way when it comes to a tragedy that is part of everyday life in working-class neighbourhoods.

Hundreds marched in three separate demonstrations to protest the mass murderers—President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian—speaking at the United Nations General Assembly held in New York last week. The event became a kind of macabre circus with these monsters in the big ring as some delegates walked out while others protested outside.

IN AUSTIN, TEXAS an ICE agent shoots a food delivery driver after he was rammed and pulled over by an unmarked van. Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, from Venezuela, entered the United States legally and is seeking asylum. He is now in ICE detention with his serious gunshot wounds inadequately treated.

Last June, a new European Pact on Migration and Asylum came into force. It has been heavily criticised by asylum advocacy groups, which denounce it as a serious attack on both people and the right to move freely.

AI or artificial intelligence systems may have the power to destroy human life say several AI experts and industry leaders. Their statements have led to a political fight between those who want to accelerate the development of AI and those who want to slow development and regulate the industry. The debate over AI's power and danger resembles the fight over nuclear energy in the 1950s.

Global warming is a health time bomb, of which deaths from heatwaves are merely the tip of the iceberg. And as is always the case under this system, which combines social and ecological inequalities, the bill is never presented to those who placed the order!

A crucial battle awaits us over the next three weeks. We are working across the country—from north to south—seeking votes and engaging in dialogue with social and political activists to ensure Lula's re-election, to surpass the PSOL's electoral threshold, and secure the election of our parliamentary candidates.
