In this review of two books about the development of anti- and de-colonial Marxism, Paul Le Blanc recommends an account of the development of Marx's thought with regard to the class dynamics and revolutionary possibilities of global struggles. Developments in Marx's thinking may be usefully put into conversation with thinkers from the Global South if done so in an analytical way.

Péter Magyar's Tisza (Respect and Freedom [Tisztelet és Szabadság]) party won a super-majority of 138 seats out of 199, inflicting on Fidesz a defeat explained by judicial scandals, saturation of the identitarian discourse, a generational fracture, and the concrete effects of the freeze on European funds.

In Iran, the streets, morgues and cemeteries are now littered with corpses. Predictably, the Islamic Republic is carrying out summary executions of protesters with extreme brutality. It was a deliberate massacre aimed not only at stifling mobilizations, but also at deterring any dissent.

The invasion of Ukraine has provoked debate on the nature of contemporary Russian society. It has been argued that Russia's war on Ukraine is part of an attack on democracy taking place globally, that Putin's Russia part of a growing authoritarianism.
